• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about a new cyclonic system forming over the Bay of Bengal, just days after Cyclone Arnab made landfall. According to the IMD's bulletin on 31 October 2026, a low-pressure area that originated over the South Andaman Sea has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to develop into a depression within the next 24 hours and subsequently intensify into a cyclonic storm. The storm is projected to move west-northwestwards and approach the Andhra Pradesh coast by the evening of 2 November
• The IMD has not yet confirmed the exact location or timing of landfall.

Impact & Risks

The potential cyclone poses a significant risk to areas along the Andhra Pradesh coast, which is still recovering from the impact of Cyclone Arnab. The new storm could bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possible flooding, further exacerbating the damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and local communities. Residents in low-lying and coastal areas are particularly vulnerable to these risks. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as the system develops.
